Musician Yoshio Sasaki actived with Hideyuki Kikuchi and Shungo Sawada in Jazz field in the 1970s and was also in charge of music for Shuji Terayama's "Tenjosajiki". In 1983, he moved to Hokkaido and started the 'Mind Jazz' project using synthesisers, percussion and bass. This self-released album from 1987 documents the results of his activities. Total 8 tracks have an impressive new age/ambient feel, with a spiritual climate etched into them. It is completely beyond the realm of independent production. Just amazing.
70年代には菊池秀行や沢田駿悟らと活動し、寺山修司主宰「天井桟敷」でも音楽を担当していたという音楽家 佐々木義生。83年に北海道に拠点を移してからは、シンセサイザー、パーカッション、ベースを用いた”Mind Jazz”プロジェクトを始動。本作はその活動の成果を記した87年の自主制作盤。精神風土が刻まれたニューエイジ/アンビエント感覚にも秀でた全8曲。完全に自主制作の域を飛び越えています。素晴らしい内容です。
