During the three and a half years between her debut in 1975 and her suspension in 1979, she released four albums, all of which were highly acclaimed. This second album is based on "Silk Road" which is the root of her sensibility, and arranged by Kuni Kawachi expressing larger sound scale. While the first album incorporated Japanese instruments, this album uses ethnic instruments such as sitar, tabla, dulcimer, and vibraphone. Total 8 tunes include opening track "Theme ~Mother's Song ~ Kagami Jigoku" is over 10 minutes long and evokes the Middle East, amazing oriental folk tune "Silk Road". This is also a masterpiece following the first one that makes you feel Yoshiko Sai's world.
75年のデヴューから活動停止となる年の間の約三年半の間に四枚のアルバムを発表しいずれも高い評価を受ける異能歌手 佐井好子。セカンドアルバムとなる今作では彼女の感性のルーツ「シルクロード」をベースにクニ河内がアレンジを務めよりサウンドスケールを拡大させた世界観を表現。ファーストでは邦楽器が取り入れられていましたが、今作ではシタール、タブラ、ダルシマー、ヴィブラフォンなどの民族楽器が使用されています。冒頭の中近東辺りを想像させる出だしの10分を超える”Theme～母さまのうた～鏡地獄”、オリエンタルフォークとしても一級品の漲る”絹之道”を筆頭にした全8曲。佐井好子ワールドを感じさせるファーストに続く傑作。ワールドミュージック好きにはこちらを推薦。
