Yábor, a Uruguayan songwriter/guitarist who has been active since the 1960s, performing in various groups and as a solo artist. This 1980 album features 10 tracks recorded in collaboration with musicians from neighboring Argentina. Rooted in folk and milonga, the album showcases a sound that blends the essence of both nations by incorporating instruments such as candombe, quena, bandoneon throughout. Yábor’s pastoral, unpretentious, and warm vocals are also a highlight. The participating musicians include bandoneon maestro Rodolfo Mederos and a young Jorge Alfano, who would later go on to create masterpiece of Argentine new age / ambient music.
60年代より数々のグループやソロにて現在まで長きに渡り活動しているウルグアイ人ソングライター/ギタリストYábor。この80年作では隣国アルゼンチンのミュージシャン達と共に録音が行われた全10曲を収録。フォークやミロンガを基本にカンドンベやケーナ、バンドネオンを加えながら両国の持つエッセンスを混ぜ合わせたサウンドを全編で披露。牧歌的な素朴であたたかみのあるYáborのヴォーカルがまたいいです。じっくりとこういう作品を聞きたい気分。バンドネオンのマエストロRodolfo Mederosや後にアルゼンチン産ニューエイジ/アンビエントの傑作を残す若き日のJorge Alfanoが参加しています。
