A masterpiece from 1977 by Tony Oxley, one of Britain's leading free jazz drummers, featuring Barry Guy, Philipp Wachsmann, David Bourne, and Ian Brighton. The dense peformance “Sounds Of The Soil 2” and “Trio 2” featuring deep bass drum, electronic drones, and violin, and the solo percussion A3/B3, constructed with a buzzing sense of detail and ambiguity are what make this record truly special. The feeling of unraveling the complexity that reveals the fascination of free jazz is also very impressive. The disc surface is clean, though there are a few minor specks do not significantly affect playback.
英国を代表するフリー・ジャズ・ドラマーTony Oxleyが77年に残した傑作。参加メンバーはBarry Guy, Philipp Wachsmann, David Bourne, Ian Brightonといった面々。重低音のバスドラム、電子ドローン、ヴァイオリン等で繰り広げられる濃密なパフォーマンス”Sounds Of The Soil 2”や”Trio 2”。そして細部と曖昧さがざわめくように構築されたソロパーカッションA3/B3が何よりもこのレコードを特別にしています。フリージャズの面白さを感じ取れる難解さを紐解くような感覚も好印象。素晴らしいです。貴重なオリジナル。盤面綺麗ですが少しポツっとする箇所ありますが再生に大きく影響するものではありませんでした。
