The Legendary Pink Dots is an experimental psychedelic band formed in London in 1980, moved to Amsterdam in 1984, and are still active today. This is a live album released in 1985. It features 8 tricky tracks, including the wired synth pop of The Lovers (Part 2) and the new age classical "Silverture". It seems this album was released without the band's permission due to a dispute with their label, and their next album will be different from the slick production shown here. Nevertheless, the work may be indicative of the band's breadth.
80年ロンドンで結成され84年にアムステルダムに拠点を移し現在も活動を続けるエクスペリメンタル・サイケデリック・バンドThe Legendary Pink Dots。本作は85年にリリースされたライブでの演奏を片面に収録したアルバム。ライブサイドが特に素晴らしくワイヤードなインダストリアル・ウェーヴ調The Lovers (Part 2)やニューエイジ・クラシカル”Silverture”を筆頭に一筋縄ではいかない全8曲を収録。レーベルとの不和によりバンドの許可なくリリースされた作品のようで、次作はここで披露している艶やかなプロダクションとは別物のアルバムがリリースされることになります。とは言えバンドの幅広さを表している作品と言えると思います。アートワークもグッド。
