The Helpful Souls, who had been active for about five years since their predecessor, the Young Beats, produced this second single in 1969 for "A Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights)," the world's first animated entertainment film for adults. The theme song "Aldin's Theme", a psychedelic rock style theme song that attempts to fuse East and West with Indian percussion instruments is on the A-side, the B-side is "Mahdia's Theme" which has a more oriental and sexy atmosphere. It is regrettable that the band disbanded in the summer of the same year, leaving this and the LP released later.
前身のヤングビーツから数えて約5年で活動を終えたザ・ヘルプフル・ソウルが当時、世界初の大人の為の娯楽アニメーション映画として制作された「千夜一夜物語」の為に制作した69年のセカンドシングル。インド産の打楽器などが使われ東洋と西洋の融合を試みたサイケデリックロック調のテーマ曲”アルディンのテーマ”をA面に、B面には更にオリエンタルでセクシーな雰囲気の漂う”悲しきマーディア”を収録。こちらと後に発売になったLPを残して同年夏に解散してしまったのが悔やまれる名シングル。
