Sven Grünberg, an Estonian synthesizer artist best known for the seminal ambient work "Hingus". This is single release that paved the way for "Hingus" having been issued the year prior. It contains 3 tracks featuring members of Mess, the group Grünberg led, though the material had not been released previously. Side A features the ambient epic "Hingus" characterized by drone-like synth layers that evoke a meditative cosmic atmosphere. Side B includes cosmic ambient piece "Algus" with a sound reminiscent of Japanese aesthetics, and soft texture featuring vocals and harp "Nimetu". There is some light surface crackling but the record remains still enjoyable.
ソ連産のアンビエント作品の代表格に挙げられる”Hingus”を生んだエストニア人シンセ奏者Sven Grünberg。本作はその”Hingus”の前年にリリースしていた布石となった7インチシングル。リリース歴はないものの彼が率いたグループMessの面々が参加した全3曲を収録。A面では瞑想宇宙を想起させるドローンライクなシンセのレイヤーを用いたアンビエント大曲”Hingus”、B面には和的にも聞こえてくるコズミック・アンビエント”Algus”と声とハープをフィーチャーした柔らかなテクスチャー”Nimetu”。盤の性質上少しチリパチします。
