1988 release by Sten Sandell, a Swedish unique free jazz musician active in the fields of improvisation and electroacoustic music. To be honest, it’s quite difficult to get into at first, but it captures the unique hybrid musical world he created with 6 collaborators. Another distinctive feature is that it’s composed of short pieces featuring different instrumental combinations—which makes sense given the wide variety of sounds on display. In any case, the album includes tracks from drum exchanges to electroacoustic sound that reminiscent of concrete music, all the way to meditative soundscapes that blend raga and gamelan.
即興や電気音響の分野で活動を続けるスウェーデン人異能音楽家Sten Sandellによる88年作品。正直どうにもとっつき難いんですが6人の共演者と独自のハイブリッドな音楽世界を形成したサウンドが収められています。異なる編成による短い構成で成り立っているのも特徴でそこに多種多様なサウンドが展開されているから無理もなし笑、ともあれドラムの応酬あり、コンクレートを応用したような音響トラック、ラーガとガムランを併せたようなメディテーティブ音響、スッカスカの即興セッションまで興味深い楽曲諸々を収録。じっくり聞いてみて下さい。
