Brazilian guitarist/composer Sebastião Tapajós, who has traveled across Latin America's major countries Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, Spain and released numerous works both as a backing musician for artists like Hermeto Pascoal and Astor Piazzolla and as a solo artist, and the master bilimbau player/percussionist Pedro Dos Santos, who recorded the psychedelic spiritual masterpiece “Krishnanda” in 1968, released this master collabration piece in 1972. It begins with Villa Lobos piece “Estudio Nº1” which flows from its undulating opening into improvisation, followed by Pedro Dos Santos' solo piece “Cantico Del Agua” combining water-filled bottle and percussion instruments, “Sorongaio” featuring the gentle sounds of the berimbau, bongos, guitar, the jungle-evoking “Munganga” sung by Pedro Dos Santos, and a cover of the bossa nova classic “Primavera”. It's been a while since we've had this in stock, but it's still absolutely superb. This is the Japanese edition released the year after the original from Trova. Wonder how it was received in Japan back then.
Hermeto PascoalやAstor Piazzolla等のバッキングミュージシャンとしての肩書やソロ作でも多くの作品を発表してきたブラジルとアルゼンチンはたまたポルトガルやスペインなどラテン主要国を渡り歩いてきたブラジルのギタリスト/コンポーザーSebastiao Tapajosと68年発表のサイケデリック・スピリチュアル傑作"Krishnanda"を残すビリンバウの達人/打楽器奏者Pedro Dos Santosの二人が72年に発表した超傑作。まず波打つような冒頭から即興へ移るヴィラ・ロボスの楽曲"Estudio Nº1"に始まり、Pedro Dos Santosによる水を入れた瓶と打楽器を組み合わせたソロ曲”Cantico Del Agua”、ビリンバウ、ボンゴ、ギターによる柔らかな響き”Sorongaio”、ジャングルを想わせPedro Dos Santosが歌う名演”Munganga”、ボサノバの名曲カバー”Primavera”含む全12曲。久々の入荷ですがやっぱり最高です。Trovaからのオリジナルの翌年リリースの日本プロモ版。当時日本でどのように受け入れられたんでしょうかね。
