Italian musician Roberto Musci. After studying alto saxophone and guitar, he traveled the world for about ten years starting in 1974 to study the music of Africa, India, the Middle East, and the Far East, recording extensively in various locations. Since then, in addition to numerous releases of his own, he has composed music for films, videos, commercials, dance, live soundtracks for silent films, poetry, and theater. Also Italian musician Giovanni Venosta. Focusing on collage/improvisation of ethnic music and he creates solo works alongside collaborations with Roberto Musci and film scores. This 1987 work is one of the early pieces by the duo, who became long-term partners. It features 11 tracks built by layering sounds around a core of meticulously extracted, vast field recording material. Their appeal lies in their stateless sound, which ranges from Fourth World to ethno-ambient to electronic collage, yet somehow evokes a rustic, nostalgic quality. An unparalleled masterpiece.
