Released in Cuba in 1990, this is as the title suggests, a collection of aerobics tracks. Side A features 6 tracks programmed on Apple Computer by producer Aneiro Taño, who has worked on projects such as FA-5 and gone on to win a Grammy, features female singer Rebeca Martinez. Labeled as fusion, it also sounds like new wave approach with modern arrangements “Popurri”, wired synth-funk "Esa Soy Yo" and Balearic type ballad “Un Sueño”. Side B, meanwhile, features jazz funk and Afro Cuban tracks by Juan Pablo Torres, one of Cuba's most important artists. It's also flawless, featuring elegant mellow funk of "Elsa Son" and funky mellow "Y Aparecio El Trombon" with male-female chorus. Believe this record, born in the era of the 90s, represents a unique category among Cuban releases where modernity and tradition intersect. 90年にキューバでリリースされたその名の通りエアロビクスの為の楽曲集。A面ではFA-5の作品等に参加し以降もグラミーを受賞するなど活躍するプロデューサーAneiro Tañoがアップルコンピュータでプログラミングを施し女性シンガーRebeca Martinezが歌う全6曲を収録。フュージョンと示されていますがモダンなアレンジが効いたニューウェーヴ的アプローチにも聞こえる”Popurri”やワイヤードなシンセ・ファンク”Esa Soy Yo”、バレアリック的バラード”Un Sueño”。対するB面にはキューバの最重要アーティストのひとりJuan Pablo Torresによるジャズファンク～アフロキューバンな楽曲を収録。優雅なメロウ・ファンク”Elsa Son”や男女コーラスのファンキー・メロウ”Y Aparecio El Trombon”含むこちらも隙なしの構成。90年という時代が生んだモダンと伝統が交差するキューバ産レコードでも特異な分類に入る内容と思います。盤面薄いマーク散見しますが再生まずまずのところ。
