1974 album by saxophonist Pierre Labor who performed as a member of Exile One, a leading Caribbean music band, and later joined the supergroup Fabriano Fuzion, and the Martinican ensemble Les Bookelos. While the album features a cadence that fuses Haitian compa, calypso, reggae, congo, rumba, and beguine throughout, it also showcases a diverse range of styles that go beyond these genres. Standout tracks include the calypso-reggae “When I Am 64” which elegantly evokes a sense of wanderlust; the groovy “Ka Frapper” featuring the traditional Guadeloupean drum known as the Ka and the tight samba track “Sirop Miel” performed by Les Bookelos, though the entire album is recommended.
カリビアン・ミュージックを代表するバンドExile Oneや後に結成するスーパーグループFabriano Fuzionのメンバーとして活動したサックス奏者Pierre Laborとマルティニークの楽団Les Bookelosによる74年作。ハイチのコンパやカリプソ、レゲエ、コンゴ、ルンバ、ビギンなどを融合させたカデンスを全編で収録していますがそれに収まらない多様なスタイルを披露。中でも優雅に旅情を掻き立ててくれるようなカリプソ・レゲエ”When I Am 64”、グアドループの伝統的な太鼓Kaをフィーチャーしたグルーヴィな”Ka Frapper”、Bookelos奏でるタイトなサンバ・トラック”Sirop Miel”は白眉ですが通していい内容。コンディション良好な部類です。
