1955 release piece is by Cuban composer/bandleader Perez Prado, also known as “The King of Mambo” and American jazz trumpeter Shorty Rogers. This work combines rhythms that originated in Africa with the foundations of mambo and jazz, and is an attempt to make listeners aware of their close relationship. It begins with tom-tom beat reminiscent of the African dawn, followed by worship-like singing by the people, and then an ensemble introduces jazz, with occasional glimpses of mysticism as the mambo mixes in and the whole picture emerges. It's astonishing, with an atmosphere that makes it hard to believe it was recorded 70 years ago. Judging from the Victor catalog, it is a 10 inch released in Japan in 1955, just like the original. A rare early pressing, released a few years after the first LP was released in Japan in 1953. Great VG+ condition.
