J.R. Houvener, Jr. aka Nicodemus is a Detroit outsider musician with a striking appearance who left behind a vast body of work from the '70s through the 2000s. This 1978 release is one of four albums from the 70s he himself described as “Future Folk”. The album's interesting structure ranges from soft rock to downer acid folk, but the standout tracks are "Devil Clan" which uses percussion but doesn't do anything particularly strange, yet creates a sticky groove together with the vocals, and the smoky underground-influenced "Shoot". In excellent condition with shrink wrap.
70年代から2000年代までに膨大な作品を残した、その風貌もキてるデトロイトのアウトサイダー・ミュージシャンNicodemusことJ.R.Houvener, Jr.。本作は70年代の自ら「フューチャー・フォーク」と表現した4枚のアルバムのひとつとなる78年作。ソフトロックからダウナー系のアシッド・フォークまで面白い構成ですが中でもパーカッションを用いながら特段変な事はしてないんですがヴォーカルと共に粘っこいグルーヴを生み出している”Devil Clan”とアングラ臭が立ち上るようなスモーキーな”Shoot”が特に最高。シュリンク付きの超美品。
