Mike Nock, a keyboard player from New Zealand, has been active for a long time in the US, where he has participated in many works such as Yusef Lateef, and has released releases on ECM, Enja. This work was written in 1984 for a New Zealand feature film. It contains 6 tracks, all of which are scores written by Nock himself, including the lyrical "Operara" with Prophet 5, moving piece "Aurora Australis” with cool touch and neatly connected piano work, and the dynamic number featuring percussion "Daybreak”. Amazing work that evokes the magnificent land of New Zealand.
長きに渡り活動したアメリカの地ではYusef Lateefに代表される数多くの作品に参加、その他ECM, Enja等にもリリースを残すニュージーランド出身の鍵盤奏者Mike Nock。本作はニュージーランドの長編映画の為に書き上げられた84年の作品。Prophet 5による叙情的に描かれる”Operara”、ひんやりとしたタッチで端正に繋がれていくピアノワークに心をが動く”Aurora Australis”、パーカッションをフィーチャーした躍動的なナンバー”Daybreak”はじめ、全て自身によるスコアとなる6曲を収録。ニュージーランドの壮大な大地を想起させる素晴らしい作品です。
