This 1971 album is the second in a trilogy of works by Detroit-born percussionist/composer Melvyn Price, released in Sweden. While the final release from 1974 is known as a masterpiece, this one also features five tracks ranging from the understated Afro contemporary piece to soulful piece like “Gepard” which foreshadows the next work, created for ballet. The hypnotic minimal percussion resonates pleasantly. This second work is also highly recommended.
デトロイト生まれのパーカッショ二スト/コンポーザーMelvyn Priceがスウェーデンで残した三部作品の二作目に当たる71年作。74年の最終作が傑作と知られていますが、今作でもバレエの為に制作された淡々としたアフロ・コンテンポラリーなものから次作へ繋がるようなソウルフルな”Gepard”のような曲まで全5編を収録。催眠的なミニマル・パーカッションが心地良く響いてきます。全曲長めに視聴録ってありますので聞いてみて下さい。この二作目も非常におすすめ。
