Ciranda is a folk music from northeastern Brazil that everyone dances in a circle, and is similar to Japanese "Warabe Uta". This is the first album released in 1977 by Lia De Itamaracá, one of the leading singers born on the island of Itamaracá, where Ciranda originated. The album features 8 tracks with Lia's strong and gentle voice over the rhythms played by a brass band including horns and percussion, which are said to have originated from Arabic music. The A-side is a medley format that includes "Quem Me Deu Foi Lia," one of the representative songs loved by many people, including Gilberto Gil. The B-side features songs with rhythmic arrangements, including the danceable "Pai Baracho" and "Coco Verde / Ciranda Feiticeira," which features a prominent rhythm section performance. A record of Brazilian folklore that is sure to please the ear with its richly good old performances and her enchanting voice.
