Laura Canoura, a singer/composer who is an essential part of the Uruguayan scene, known for her solo works, as well as such as her activitiess with Rumbo, Las Tres with Estela Magnone and Flavia Ripa, and tango collabolation work with Hugo Fattoruso. This 1992 compilation features a selection of tracks from her '80s record era. The highlight is the spiritual opening of MPU "Nada vale más" exclusive to this release featuring her magnificent vocals (known as the song that gained international recognition after its music video was produced), other standouts include Rumbo's flavorful folklore piece “Arranca, Arranca” Las Tres' cover of Elis Regina's “Como Nuestros Padres,” and the organic folk piece “El Robo”. As the title suggests, "What I Learned from Records" suggests, the track's structure traces her roots, and the album is incredibly well-crafted. This cassette version with its deep and rich sound is definitely the recommended choice.
ソロ作品に加えMauricio Ubalらと結成したRumbo、Estela MagnoneとFlavia RipaとのLas Tres、Hugo Fattorusoとのタンゴ作品などウルグアイシーンには欠かせないシンガー/コンポーザーLaura Canoura。本作は80年代のレコード期の楽曲を中心に選定された92年リリースのコンピレーション。まずこちらにしか収録されていないスピリチュアルな冒頭から始まるMPU”Nada vale más”が素晴らしい歌声も相まったハイライト（ビデオクリップが制作され国際的に知名度を高めた曲として知られてます）、他にもRumboの味わい深いフォルクローレ”Arranca, Arranca”、Las TresによるElis Reginaのカバー”Como Nuestros Padres”、有機的フォーク”El Robo”など収録。”レコードに学んだこと”の意味するタイトル通りルーツを辿るような楽曲構成で非常によくできてます。奥行きあるサウンドのこのカセット版がやっぱりオススメです。
