Kinothek Percussion Ensemble is a project by an artist known as Dna Hoover, who is based in the Bay Area. Although it’s called an ensemble, it’s actually a one-man ensemble in which he has layered recordings of his own performances ranging from percussion instruments like the marimba, tabla, and bongos to ethnic instruments such as the tambura and saz, as well as electronic sounds, samples, and all sorts of odds and ends. The concept is described as “imaginarium mood music” that stimulates the visual senses. The album features a collection of highly unique tracks brimming with the romanticism of a mental journey ranging from an imaginary foreign land exuding an exoticism of unknown origin to an untamed jungle of the imagination, all with the feel of a soundtrack without visuals.
サンフランシスコを拠点に活動していた打楽器奏者/作曲家Dna Hooverが全三作を制作したひとりアンサンブルKinothek Percussion Ensemble。膨大な打楽器を持ち出し視覚を刺激するコンセプトの元に作り上げた架空のサウンドトラック仕立て全14曲。産地不明のエキゾ・アンサンブル”A Change En Route”、妄想ジャングル”Discovery”、ヘンテコ脱臼ポップを奏でた”Out Of Control”、異郷を漂うようなサウンドスケープ”In Wait”。自主レーベルからのリリース。ジャケも凝ってます。
