The first album in 1980 by South African super group Kabasa formed by guitarist Doc Mthalane, who is also known as Harari, percussionist Oupa Segwai, and bassist Tata Sibeko who was also active as an arranger. Even on this first album, they fully showcase quality afro fusion sound, combining neat performing form with mellowness and psychedelia. The whole content is amazing, particularly outstanding are "Afro Funkin'" which combines psychedelic guitar, trippy synths, and funky groove, group name song "Kabasa," the dynamic mid-funk that brings out the guitar and other individual playing at key points, and afro funk "Burning Splinters" which has a sticky groove that continues until the end. The second album is great, but this one is also highly recommended. Disc has light noise in the quiet parts, but it's generally in good shape.
