”Filin” music was born in the late 1940s to the 1960s, incorporating contemporary music and jazz harmonies into Cuban pop music such as bolero and trova. This is the debut album by José Antonio Méndez, a leading figure in the Filin who was also connected to Guyun, a behind-the-scenes pioneer who taught guitar to many artists and exerted a profound influence on them. Since he had shifted his career to Mexico, this album was released there. The tracks feature a cool, graceful, modern sound created by his soulful vocals, guitar, electric organ, violin, congas, timbales. A timeless masterpiece arguably a "listening music" record that was ahead of its time dating back some 70 years. In exceptionally rare condition, showing only minor scuffs and virtually mostly audible noise. It’s a full recording, so please give it a listen.
