Jorge López Ruiz was a living witness to Argentine jazz since his first LP in 1960, and until his death last year, he continued to create great works that are now almost legendary. This one is a greasy '89 record. From the moment drop the needle, a different atmosphere flows through, First of all, the tango-like drumming, the supple bass chords and the transition from stillness to motion, all played at a high level A1”De La Super Pepa”, gradually transforms into psychedelic spiritual jazz from the beginning A3 "De Ruminus Y Mucho Mas", B1 "De Mama Candombe" featuring Candombe, which has a sophisticated impression while giving a feeling of obscure, B3 "Del Condor" obscure spiritual jazz-like tune with an electronic bass swirling while striking a strange rhythm. 6 tunes in total. Don't want to use the term "lifelong" lightly, but this one is a must.
1960年の1st LPから数えてアルゼンチンジャズの生きる証人として惜しくも18年に亡くなるまでもはや伝説的と言っていいほど素晴らしい作品を創作し続けてきたJorge López Ruiz。こちらは脂が乗りきっている89年の作品。針を落とした瞬間から違う空気感が流れます、まずは冒頭のタンゴを感じるドラミング、しなやかなベースコード、静から動へ移る間合いなど全てが高次元で演奏されるエレガント極まりないA1”De La Super Pepa”、序盤から次第にサイケデリック・スピリチュアルジャズに変容するA3”De Ruminus Y Mucho Mas”、カンドンベをフィーチャーして、オブスキュアな感覚も多分に感じながらも洗練された印象にまとめ上げられているB1”De Mama Candombe”、変拍子を打ちながら電子ベース/シンセが渦巻くオブスキュア・スピリチュアルジャズ的なB3”Del Condor”など全6曲。褒める言葉が尽きるほどにやばすぎる作品。一生ものと軽々しく使いたくないですがこれは是非とも。
