John Elder, a New Zealander who served as a senior scientist at Scott Base, an Antarctic research station, while also working as an ambient composer and writer. This work is a soundtrack for a film, released in the same year as his other master release "Antarctica". In addition to keyboards, he also plays trumpet and cornet, peforming a cinematic soundscape throughout the album that evokes a decadent and somewhat melancholic atmosphere, befitting the title’s meaning. Brilliant.
南極観測基地であるスコット基地の上級科学者を務めながら、アンビエント・コンポーザーそして作家としても活動していたニュージーランド出身のJohn Elder。本作は彼名義のもう一つの作品”Antarctica”と同年にリリースされたフィルムの為のサウンド・トラック。鍵盤楽器の他トランペットとコルネットもマルチに演奏し、タイトルの廃墟を意味するように退廃的でどこかもの悲し気な雰囲気を描いたシネマティックなサウンドスケープを全編で展開。素晴らしいです。
