The hammered dulcimer, a percussion string instrument originating in Persia, is played by striking metal strings with a plectrum called a hammer. This is a cassette album released in 1998 by Jamie Janover, a hammered dulcimer player based in New Jersey. The album is packed with rich collaborative material, including ethno-imaginary piece "Scribe" featuring female vocals and tabla, "Amaxoxo" which interprets West African traditional music on the hammered dulcimer, genre-crossing ensemble piece "Seventh Sea" spanning over eleven minutes, fusion collaboration between the hammered dulcimer and percussion instruments like congas, bongos, djembes, and guiros "Perculcimer" and more experimental track "ADHD" featuring vocal sampling. Think one of his best work. In recent years, he has been active in fields like dubstep and downtempo. This is deadstock acquired directly from artist himself.
金属製の弦をハンマーと呼ばれる撥を打って演奏するペルシャに起源を持つ打弦楽器ハンマー・ダルシマー。本作はニュージャージーを拠点に活動していたハンマー・ダルシマー奏者Jamie Janoverによる98年のカセットリリース。女性ヴォーカルとタブラをフィーチャーしたエスノ・イマージナル"Scribe"、西アフリカの伝統音楽をハンマー・ダルシマーで表現した”Amaxoxo"、11分を超える越境アンサンブル”Seventh Sea"、コンガ、ボンゴ、ジャンベ、ギロらのパーカッションとハンマー・ダルシマーの融合コラボ”Perculcimer"、ヴォイス・サンプリングをフォーチャーしたより実験的なトラック”ADHD”はじめ多数のコラボレーションによる濃密な内容。ベストに挙げたい作品。近年はダブステップやダウンテンポなどのフィールドで活躍しています。ご本人経由で譲ってもらったデッドストック品です。
