A cult synth piece created in the early 80s by musician Ian Elms, who remains largely shrouded in mystery to this day. Recorded in a studio in Suffolk, England, with producer/engineer Dave Hoser, using keyboards, drum tracks, and synthesizers, it features 15 tracks expressing both narrative tracks and fleeting emotions. It fulfills elements of lo-fi, Berlin School, DIY, minimalism, yet is also described as isolationist, filled with a strange yet somehow captivating charm. The enigmatic lyrics further distinguish this work. The artwork depicting a yellow forest, seemingly expressing “Surrounded By Trees” is also mesmerizing.
現在も多くが謎に包まれたミュージシャンIan Elmsが80年代初頭に作り上げたカルトシンセ作品。イギリス東Suffolkのスタジオにてプロデューサー/エンジニアDave Hoserと共にキーボード、ドラムトラック、シンセサイザーによって制作され、物語性を帯びた楽曲と儚い感情を表現した楽曲の全15曲。Lo-fi、ベルリンスクール、DIY、ミニマリズムの要素を満たしながら孤立主義的とも評される奇妙だがどこか心捉まれる魅力に満ちています。謎めいた歌詞もこの作品を際立たせている。「Surrounded By Trees」を表現したような黄色の森のアートワークも印象的。
