A masterpiece from 1977 by German percussionist Heinz Von Moisy and his quintet. After graduating from the Barclay Conservatory of Music in the US, he became the only white member of an African-American band and even joined the black union. In addition to the Brazilian-flavored spiritual jazz track “Nil,” which is representative of this album, the entire album is filled with bossa nova and Afro-Cuban tracks that exude blackness. German spiritual jazz piece that still feels underappreciated. Although this is German reissue version from the mid-90s, the sound quality is amazing.
ドイツ人打楽器奏者Heinz Von Moisyがクインテットで残した77年の超傑作。米バークリー音楽院を卒業後はアフリカ系アメリカ人バンドで唯一の白人奏者として活動し黒人組合にも加入していたようです。今作の代表曲でもあるブラジリアンテイストのスピリチュアル・ジャズ"Nil"の他にもボッサやアフロ・キューバンのブラックネスを感じさせる楽曲を全編で収録。まだまだ正当な評価を得てないと感じるジャーマン・スピリチュアル・ジャズの名作。90年中頃の再発版ですが音質も非常に良好。
