1987 masterpiece by Grupo Serenata, a one-off project formed to commemorate the launch of a new flight route for Cabo Verde Airlines. There are many Cape Verdean immigrant communities in and around Boston, and this album was recorded when top Cape Verdean musicians traveled to the U.S. for the route’s launch event. The lineup includes Zeca Couto of Os Tubarões, who handled all aspects of the production, as well as legendaly musicians Nhelas Spencer and Betu. The opening track "Sodade, Tem Pena D'Mim" is nothing short of perfection, it exudes a blend of melancholy and atmosphere while maintaining a tempo that naturally compels the body to move. The rest of the album is equally impressive that achieve a sophisticated fusion of traditional acoustic instruments with digital synthesizers and programming of the era. It is truly a miraculous work born from the convergence of various circumstances at the time. In top condition. As a side note, it seems some deadstock items have been found, but we have priced mine lower than that; if you are looking for one, please do consider this offer.
カーボベルデ航空の新規路線開通を記念して結成されたワンオフプロジェクトGrupo Serenataによる87年の超傑作。アメリカ・ボストン周辺には多くのカーボベルデ系移民のコミュニティが存在し、路線の開通イベントのためにカーボベルデの実力派ミュージシャンがアメリカへ渡りその際に録音が行われたというのがこの作品。メンバーには全てのディレクションを務めたOs TubarõesのメンバーZeca CoutoにNhelas SpencerやBetuといった面々が含まれています。何と言っても冒頭に収録の哀愁とムードが溶け出しながら程よいテンポで身体が自然に動きだす”Sodade, Tem Pena D'Mim”が極上の言葉以外見つからない完璧な一曲。それ以外にも伝統的なアコースティック楽器と当時の先端であったデジタルシンセサイザーやプログラミングが高次に融合した高水準の楽曲が並びます。当時の様々な背景がひとつに繋がりこの奇跡の作品を生んだと言えそうです。盤面超良好のトップコンディション。余談ですがデッドストックが見つかったようですがそちらより低い金額設定にしてますのでお探しの方がいましたら是非検討ください。
