Born in Cap-Haïtien, the second most populous city in northern Haiti, Gifrants is a composer/guitarist who has been based in Boston since moving to the United States in 1982. He formed Sakad, which also released an album entitled "Rebati Kay-la" (Let's Rebuild the Country), which was well received in Haiti, and after turning to solo, he has continued to express a new style of Haitian music that incorporates all kinds of music, including folk, pop, ballads, and contemporary music. This is his first solo album released in 1991. The highlights are the danceable Zouk numbers "Sanmdi Swa" and "Rara-Mwe", along with our favorite pleasant "Delivrans" with Balearic vibes, the relaxing tropical number "Siwèl" with female chorus, and the softly electronic folk song "Lanmou-Mwe". Amazing crossover content that goes beyond just Compa music. The jacket is also appealing. In shrink beautiful condition. Hard to find.
ハイチ北部に位置する人口第2位の都市Cap-Haïtienに生まれ、82年に渡米後はボストンを拠点に活動している作曲家/ギタリストGifrants。渡米後に結成したSakadでも「Rebati Kay-la」（国を再建しよう）と題されたアルバムを発表しハイチ国内でも好評を博し、ソロに転向した後はフォーク、ポップス、バラード、現代音楽などあらゆる音楽を取り入れた新しいスタイルのハイチ音楽を表現し続けています。本作は91年にリリースされたソロファーストアルバム。ハイライトのダンサンブルなZoukナンバー”Sanmdi Swa”, "Rara-Mwe"と共に収録されている、バレアリック雰囲気の緩やかなバイブスが気持ちいい”Delivrans”、女性コーラス入りのリラクシンなナンバー”Siwèl”、柔らかに電子されたフォークソング”Lanmou-Mwe”が当店的に推薦。コンパだけにとどまらないクロスオーヴァーされた全編素晴らしい内容。ジャケもよし。シュリンク付きの美品。
