This 5-LP box set was recorded in 1979 by about 30 Cuban musicians, both old and new, as a counterpoint to the Fania All Stars. Juan Pablo Torres took the lead in the recording, which was done with a sense of “while we still can” as legendary musicians were approaching old age. It features a number of superb performances by experienced virtuoso musicians, including Miguelito Cuní, Rubén González, Niño Rivera, Arturo Sandoval. Also interesting as a documentary value, as it examines the differences in the concepts of jam sessions in jazz and Cuban music. The vinyl is shiny and bright, and the rare obi is repaired but still attached.
ファニア・オールスターズに対抗するように新旧の約30人に及ぶキューバン・ミュージシャンが集結して79年に録音された5枚組LPボックス。大御所ミュージシャンも高齢に差し掛かり、「今のうちに」という意味合いも含まれながらJuan Pablo Torresが先導を取り録音が行われたようです。Miguelito Cuní, Rubén González, Niño Rivera, Arturo Sandovalら熟練の名手が奏でる珠玉の演奏の数々。ジャズとキューバ音楽におけるジャム・セッションの考え方の相違など文献価値としても興味深いです。80年前半のリリースと思われます。盤はピカピカ、帯補修されていますが付属しています。
