Dif Juz is a four-piece band consisting of brothers Alan Curtis and Dave Curtis on guitar, along with a bassist and a percussionist/horn player. This is a rare cassette tape released by a small cassette label while the band was signed to the British indie label 4AD, home to artists like the Cocteau Twins, with whom they were close friends. It appears to have been recorded between tour dates with Lee “Scratch” Perry, the originator of dub whom the band deeply admired. The album features radical post-rock sound throughout, interspersed with reggae/dub-style rhythms and heavy reverberations and beats that offer a glimpse of that influence. Although the band later released a full-length album on 4AD, it seems certain that something happened during this period. Furthermore, a collaborative track with Lee Perry was released later. Extremely rare find.
