In the late 1960s, many artists left Brazil due to the deteriorating environment surrounding bossa nova and the political climate, to either temporarily visit or settle in Mexico, where bossa nova was booming. This album, released in 1970, was recorded in Mexico by one of the leading figures of Bossa Nova, Carlos Lyra. Although the backing band consists entirely of Mexican musicians, this does not detract from the experience; the album delivers the exquisite bossa nova that is considered one of his masterpieces. Highlights include “¿Quién Te Manda?” a song brimming with saudade and longing for love with lyrics by Vinicius de Moraes, romantic bossa tune “Para No Decir Adiós,” featuring bongos, cover of the classic “Tristeza” by Haroldo Lobo and Niltinho and the highlight, the over 8 minute-long “Samba De La Bendición (Saravá)” which incorporates Spanish lyrics. A remastered CD reissue of the 2002 Japanese release.
ブラジル国内でのボサノヴァを取り巻く環境の悪化や政治体制から国を出て、ボサノヴァが大流行していたメキシコに一時的に赴く、もしくは定住するものも多かったという1960年代後半。その中の一人であったボサノヴァの第一人者Carlos Lyraがメキシコで吹き込んだ70年リリース作。バックは全員メキシコ人ミュージシャンが担当しているもののそれを感じさせない彼の代表作に挙げられる極上のボサノヴァを聞かせてくれます。Vinicius de Moraesが歌詞を送った愛を想うサウダージ溢れる”¿Quien Te Manda?”、ボンゴをフィーチャーしたロマンティックな”Para No Decir Adios”、Haroldo Lobo/Niltinho作の名曲カバー”Tristeza”、ハイライトの8分を超えるスペイン語を交えた”Samba De La Bendicion (Saravá)”。オリジナルはメキシコオンリー。こちらは2002年の日本リリースリマスターCD再発版。
