Caetano Veloso, a representative of the Tropicalismo movement, which mixes elements of Brazilian popular music, Western rock and roll, and avant-garde art music to create a more international, psychedelic, and socially conscious sound. The album was released in 1979 with A Outra Banda Da Terra, a 5-piece band that started to play with Caetano in 5 albums. This album has been described as catapulted him to pop star status however its light and unique rhythms, floating melodie, playful sound, it is rich in musicality that separates it from the major field. Among them, the acid type tunes such as A3, A4, B2 are match the current atmosphere.
ブラジルのポピュラー音楽、欧米のロックンロール、そして前衛芸術的な音楽の要素をミックスし、より国際的、サイケデリック、社会意識的なサウンドを掲げたトロピカリズモを代表するご存知Caetano Velosoとこの時期よりカエターノと共に5枚のアルバムに参加するようになった5人編成バンドA Outra Banda Da Terraとの79年作。ポップスターへと躍り出たアルバムと評される本作ですが、軽やかなリズム、浮遊するメロディ、ユニークで遊び心を感じるサウンドはメジャーと引き離しても音楽性に富んでいます。中でもアシッドな雰囲気のA3/A4/B2などは現在の空気感とマッチしているのかなと思います。
