The recording documents improvisations that fuse the most primal forms of musical expression with free music; alongside clarinets, saxophones, and cymbals, the artists utilize tree branches, stones, and even the stream itself as instruments. As Peter Brötzmann later remarked, “We played on trees and in the water, together with the birds and the wind, using whatever was at hand or whatever we found, and created music with all of it. In a sense, that is the true meaning of improvisation”.
