Bjørn Alterhaug, a leading Norwegian bassist and composer, has collaborated with numerous international jazz artists to date, and since the 1970s has also served as a professor at a music research institute, mentoring younger generations while participating in many recordings. This album, released in 1979, is considered his debut solo work and represents the peak of his career during his time with trios and quintets. Featuring local musicians such as Carl Haakon Waadeland and Torgrim Sollid, the album includes a range of styles from delicate contemporary jazz to spiritual, fusion, and Brazilian-style. Each track exudes a refined atmosphere and leaves a lasting impression.
現在まで数多くの国際的なジャズアーティストと共演し70年代からは音楽研究所の教授として後進の指導にも当たりながら数多くの作品へ参加してきたノルウェーを代表するベーシスト/作曲家Bjørn Alterhaug。本作はトリオやクインテットなどのアンサンブルを組んでいた頃の頂点と言われるソロ名義では初作に数えられる79年作。Carl Haakon WaadelandやTorgrim Sollidといった当地のミュージシャン達と共に北欧らしい繊細なコンテンポラリー・ジャズからスピリチュアル～フュージョン～ブラジリアン・スタイルまで収録。どの曲も雰囲気を漂わす完成された印象の楽曲群。もっと評価されるべき作品と思います。
