1984 album by Cuban singer Argelia Fragoso, who grew up in a musical family and is highly acclaimed in Mexico for her talents in everything from son to pop, bolero to ballads, traditional trova to jazz, and feelin' to guaracha, is a testament to her renown. This album also features a number of wonderful tracks that fuse Afro-Cuban, jazz, and Latin elements with enveloping vocals and orchestration. Among them, the grand latin fusion track “Imagen De Un Adios” with standout orchestration, pop style “Al Umbral De MI Corazon” with exquisite use of electric instruments, and the strangest bolero-style track “El Color Del Alma” are particularly outstanding. While there are many rare her singles available, this work seems to be relatively unknown.
音楽家系に育ちソンからポップス、ボレロからバラード、伝統的なトロバからジャズ、フィーリンからグアラチャまで歌いこなしメキシコでも大きな評価を得ているキューバ人シンガーArgelia Fragosoによる84年作。この作品でも包み込むような歌声とオーケストレーションによるアフロキューバン、ジャズ、ラテンの要素をフュージョンした素晴らしい楽曲を多数収録しています。中でもオーケストレーションも際立つ壮大なラテン・フュージョン”Imagen De Un Adios”、絶妙な電化使いも印象的なラテン・ポップ”Al Umbral De MI Corazon”、最もストレンジなボレロ調”El Color Del Alma”が素晴らしい。稀少なシングルも多数残していますがこの作品はあまり知られていないのかな。
