Allegro, a Moscow-based jazz ensemble led by Nikolay Levinovsky, who had jam sessions with such as Duke Ellington. Chick Corea and had a close international relationship (later emigrated to the U.S). For this 1985 album, the eight-member ensemble was expanded to include keyboards, drums, brass session, and the sound is smoother and more evolved than 1982 album, which was supplemented by synths. Contains three long tracks that combine folded and neat performance form, slow and steady groove, and sense of heaviness. All of them are good, particularly we recommend Latin jazz funk feel “Composition On A Theme Of Cole Porter”. Amazing USSR jazz piece.
デューク・エリントン、チックコリアらとジャムセッションを重ねるなど（後にアメリカに移住）国際的親交も深かったNikolay Levinovskyが率いたモスクワ発のジャズ・アンサンブルAllegro。この85年作ではキーボード、ドラム、ブラスセッションを加えた8人体制となり、シンセで補っていた82年作からより進化したスムースなサウンドを奏でています。折り重なる端正な演奏フォーム、緩急を操るグルーヴ、重厚感を併せ持った直尺の3曲を収録。どれもいいですが当店的にはA2のラテン・ジャズ・ファンク調”Composition On A Theme Of Cole Porter”を押し。演奏面も際立つ素晴らしき共産ジャズ作品。A1が少しチリパチする印象ですが、その他のトラックは良好な部類です。
