1987 album by Mexican singer Maria Eva Avilés, who is probably almost unknown in Japan. Produced by Juan José Calatayud, a pianist who has also released music on labels such as Pentagrama, the album features a variety of unusual arrangements from Latin jazz to experimental pop to folky tunes. Among them, obscure-type Cuban jazz tune "Shibirit", ethno-jazz tune "Gracia Nueva" with impressive vocals and the flute-led wired ethnic-inspired tune"Miguel" are particularly interested. A rather unusual Mexican jazz piece.
おそらく日本では無名に近いと思われるメキシコ人シンガーMaria Eva Avilésによる87年作。プロデュースをPentagramaなどからリリース歴もあるピアニストJuan José Calatayudが手掛け、ラテンジャズ～実験ポップ～フォーキーな楽曲まで変わったアレンジの効いた楽曲を収録。中でもオブスキュアなキューバン・ジャズ風”Shibirit”、伸びのあるヴォーカルも印象的なエスノ・ジャズ”Gracia Nueva”、フルートが導くワイヤード・エスニック調”Misetrios Gozosos”は面白いです。なかなか変わったメキシカンレフトフィールド作品。
