Kojun Kuniba, also known as Kojun, is a musician and drummer born in Okinawa. His master piece "Water Garden", conceived in the 1980s and completed in 1993, was inspired by the idea of a "peaceful Asia". This is ethno-techno version of the same title that was released two years later, in 1995, on Okinawa's Jōtō label, with more beat-up the addition of saxophone, erhu, accordion, steel drums, and percussion. The producer is Kenichiro Isoda, known for Oscilation Circuit, and Hiroshi Sato is the A&R producer. A softer ethno-ambient arrangement "The Water Garden" hidden behind a rearranged techno beat tunes, is especially our favorite. Kojun's background is also detailed here, and it's a good set to enjoy.
沖縄生まれの音楽家/ドラム奏者Kojunこと國場幸順。80年代に構想を立て93年に完成された「平和なアジア」をイメージした傑作”水中庭園”。本作はその二年後の95年に沖縄のJōtōレーベルよりリリースされた同タイトルながら、サックス、二胡、アコーディオン、スティールドラム、パーカッションが加えられたビート感を増したエスノテクノヴァージョン。プロデューサーはOscilation Circuitで知られる磯田健一郎、A&Rプロデュースは佐藤博が務めています。テクノビートにリアレンジされた楽曲に隠れて収録された、より柔らかにアレンジされたエスノ・アンビエント”The Water Garden”が素晴らしいです。Kojunのそれまでの生い立ちなどもこちらには詳しく書かれていてセットで楽しむのもいいと思います。
