The Kenya volume of the African Acoustic Series by the renowned U.S. label Original Music. “Dry” is an African term for acoustic guitar, and it features total 17 tracks recorded in the 1950s and 1960s, before the introduction of electric guitars. The first 5 tracks are sung in different languages, the next 6 are sung in Swahili, and the last tracks were recorded just before the formation of the urban music of Nairobi. The guitar, having arrived from the West, underwent its own unique development, resulting in a gentle blend of primal melodies and the soothing sound of the guitar resonating across the dry land. This is one of the most popular albums in the series.
