Jazz pianist Toru Tsuzuki, who has performed with the Tamami Kotake Group and Hideo Toki, formed Band Of Pleasure with David T. Walker in the 1990s, and continues to perform live energetically to this day. This is his first leader album released in 1984. It features a trio lineup with Makoto Saito (bass) and Hideo Sekine (drums), joined by Hidefumi Toki and three percussionists. The album immediately captivates with the groovy title track "Neptune," which maintains a good pace while showcasing tight playing. Furthermore, Hidefumi Toki's soprano saxophone shines in the elegant "Everyday's Sunday" followed by smooth bossa nova "Remember You" and dramatic samba "Cantata Marina". In addition to Tsuzuki's originals, also includes covers of classics by Neptune Steve and Thelonious Monk. A truly wonderful album, highly recommended even for Latin music fans.
