The only work of The Prime Element, a project formed by Carlos Franzetti, a Buenos Aires-born composer/pianist who has expanded into the film music world, and with drummer/percussionist Omar Clay, who is also known as a member of Max Roach's M'Boom. A total 8 tracks with enthusiastic performances ranging from spiritual jazz to samba jazz to bossa nova accompanied by violin, viola, flute, contrabass, horn. Including, highlight's insane spiritual jazz "En El Amanecer Del Tiempo (In The Dawn Of Time)" with Akua Dixon's profound vocals, one more highlight excellent jazz bossa number "Norma Jean", followed jazz danceble number such as ”Lola”, ”Aldebaran”, and our favorite impressive jazz rock number "Pelo Y Barba (Shave And A Haircut)," with ethereal saxophone, ever-changing drums/percussion, violin, unfolding like a kaleidoscope. It's a remarkable release even among the 70s Trova masterpieces.
アメリカを中心にジャンルを超えた作品群、映画音楽界にも進出したブエノスアイレス出身のコンポーザー/ピアニストCarlos FranzettiがMax RoachのM'Boomのメンバーとしても知られるドラム/打楽器奏者Omar Clayと共に結成したプロジェクトThe Prime Elementの唯一作。ヴァイオリン、ヴィオラ、フルート、コントラバス、ホルン等を従えスピリチュアルジャズ～サンバジャズ～ボサノバまで熱のこもった演奏が刻まれた全8曲の構成。まずAkua Dixonの深長なヴォーカルを配したスピリチュアル・ジャズ”En El Amanecer Del Tiempo (In The Dawn Of Time)”、浮遊するように優雅に各演奏が舞うボッサナンバー”Norma Jean”が目を引きますが、疾走する高速ジャズサンバ”Lola”、グルーヴィなジャズロック”Aldebaran”のダンサンブルなナンバー、そして当店推薦の幽玄なサックス、変幻自在のドラム/パーカッション、バイオリン等が万華鏡の様に展開していくかっこよすぎる迫力のジャズ・ロック”Pelo Y Barba (Shave And A Haircut)”と全編すんばらしい。名作ひしめく70年代のTrovaに置いても目を見張る作品。
