1989 release by the Sun Ra Arkestra from the Italian edgy jazz label Black Saint. Recorded in the same session as "Reflections in Blue" released by the same label in 1986, but shelved, this work features a spiritual, big band, and swing jazz style reminiscent of early Sun Ra. Especially afro spiritual "Love On A Far Away Planet" which starts off with a fragrant, impressive keyboard sound is stand out. Also included is the elegant swing jazz style "Beautiful Love" and the rumbling, cosmic arkestra "Dance Of The Extra Terrestrians". There are a huge number of releases, but this is recommended as an introduction that also gives you a taste of the early days.
イタリアの前衛ジャズレーベルBlack Saintから発表されたSun Ra Arkestraの89年作。同レーベルから86年にリリースされていた『Reflections in Blue』と同セッションで録音されるもお蔵入りとなっていた音源で、初期Sun Raを想わせるスピリチュアル～ビッグバンド～スウィング・ジャズのスタイルを収録した作品。中でもキーボードの音色も印象的な香り立つような序盤から始まるアフロ・スピリチュアル”Love On A Far Away Planet”が絶品。他にも気品溢れるスウィング・ジャズ・スタイル”Beautiful Love”、うなりを挙げる宇宙的なアーケストラ”Dance Of The Extra Terrestrians”を収録。膨大なリリースがありますが初期の空気感も感じられる入門編にもオススメです。
