Salvador Ferreras, a Canadian percussionist/composer with Puerto Rican/Venezuelan roots. He is probably best known for "To Drive In L.A.", which combines stateless beat improvisation and electronics. This is his next work, released in 1992, which returns to Latin/Carribean music and includes sessions and live recordings with local Vancouver musicians. Total 12 tracks include primitive session of "East of Eaton's” with Peking Opera brass gongs and Filipino cowbells that resulted from an acoustic expedition combining box drums and string bass, a track that depicts an imaginary trip to Olinda, a coastal town in Brazil, with a large number of percussion instruments, and improvised Afro-Latin jazz "The Tropic of Casual" with transitions. The style of this work is different from previous work, but it seems to show his bare sensibility. Cassette edition.

To Drive In L.A.”
