The debut album by Nobuyuki Shimizu, one of Japan's leading arrangers/composers, at the age of just 19 years old. The Sugar Babe track "Konuka Ame" sung by Mariya Takeuchi and EPO and the thrilling fusion track "Corner Top" are eye-catching, also we recommend Bacharach cover "What the World Need Now Is Love" with Latin arrangement inherited from Naoya Matsuoka, "Punk Interlude" reminiscent of YMO with sweet synths produced by Hideki Matsutake, mellow fusion "Silver Spot" sung by his ally EPO with spacey part in the middle, and the sexy fusion track "Ryusei" played by skilled members. Master piece in great condition.
日本を代表するアレンジャー/作曲家 清水信之が若干19歳の時に制作したデビュー作にして大名作。竹内まりやとEPOが歌うシュガー・ベイブの”こぬか雨”とタイトル通りのスリリングに駆け抜けるフュージョン・トラック”Corner Top”がやはり目を見張りますが、当店的には松岡直也譲りのラテンアレンジの効いたバカラックカバー”What The World Need Now Is Love”、松武秀樹を迎え制作された甘美なシンセが舞うYMOを彷彿とさせる”Punk Interlude”、盟友EPOが歌い中盤のスペイシーパートも見逃せないメロウ・フュージョン”Silver Spot”、技巧派メンバーが奏でるセクシーなフュージョン・とタック”流星”もオススメ。やっぱりいいアルバムです。オリジナル。
