Jon Hassell, founder of the Fourth World movement that fuses elements of world ethnic music with electronic technology, presents the second installment in a series inspired by the culture of the Senoi people. The Senoi have a tradition of sharing dreams within families. Songs and dances remembered from dreams were taught to neighboring tribes, fostering positive relationships. Drawing inspiration from this, sounds unrecognizable as trumpet emerge as delayed drones, fusing with bone-shaking bass, muffled percussive strikes, and Brian Eno's mixing to create a strange, floating space detached from the timeline. Every track is incredible, but “Dream Theory” truly evokes something special. Beautiful US original copy.
世界の民族音楽の要素とエレクトロニクス技術を融合させた第四世界の創始者Jon Hassellがセノイ族の文化から影響を受けて制作したシリーズ第二弾。セノイ族は家族で夢を語る習慣を持ち、夢の中で覚えた歌や踊りは近隣の部族に教えられ良好な関係を築くきっかけにもなっていました。そんなインスピレーションを元に、トランペットとは思えない音がディレイがかかりドローンとして現れながら、骨を揺さぶるようなベース、くすむように連打される打楽器、ブライアン・イーノのミキシングが融合され時間軸から逸脱した奇妙な浮遊空間を創造しています。全曲凄いですが”Dream Theory”はやはり特別な何かを感じさせてくれます。USオリジナル美盤。
