French composer/drummer Jean-Pierre Bottura is known for a series of works he left for contemporary ballet. This double album features his 1971 record “Danse Jazz Moderne,” which offers a modern interpretation of jazz, plus a disc containing four tracks labeled “Moderne Compositions”. The “Moderne Compositions” side features four experimental contemporary pieces with distinctive sound space. The 1971 works, including the deep and elegant groove “Pop Corn - 5” and flute infused jazz samba “Samba” are, needless to say, great. It's a bit of a shame the sound quality isn't great, being a private album.
