Chicago-born big jazz drummer/pianist Jack DeJohnette who is well known for his activities with the Miles Davis Group and on ECM. This work was written for a video program by photographer Tadayuki Naito, who also known as jazz enthusiast and worked on Miles Davis's cover photo. Featuring trumpeter Lester Bowie (ex Art Ensemble of Chicago), the album contains dynamic sounds that evoke the African landscape, with rhythm machines, synths, fieldrecording, and effectively produced trumpet tones. Impressive as an ethno-contemporary work. Beautiful original US copy.
マイルス・デイヴィス・グループやECM諸作に代表される活動歴で知られるシカゴ出身のジャズ・ドラマー／ピアニストJack DeJohnette。本作はジャズ愛好家にしてマイルス・デイヴィス作品にも採用された経歴を持つ写真家 内藤忠行のビデオプログラム用にトランペット奏者Lester Bowie (ex Art Ensemble of Chicago)をフィーチャーして書き上げられた作品。リズムマシン、シンセ、鳴き声、そして効果的に演出されるトランペットの音色が描く、アフリカの大地が目に浮かぶよう躍動的なサウンドが収められています。全編みなぎるエスノ・コンテンポラリー名品。USオリジナル美盤。
