Born in 1892, Hawaiian performer Alice Namakelua composed around 180 songs as a master of slack key guitar, and also contributed greatly to nurturing the next generation of musicians, from children to artists, as a teacher. This album was released in 1974 as her first studio recording, when she was 82 years old. It contains 12 songs in total, ranging from serious songs to gentle accompaniment and cheerful songs, with a dignified singing voice that is hard to believe she is 82 years old. Simply amazing record by “Aunt Alice” and it is driven by a gentle feeling that no one could possibly dislike. It is also a wonderful story that the album was sold in collaboration with a bakery, so could buy the album along with bread.
