Born into a musical family in São Paulo, singer/guitarist Ana Caram moved to the United States under the guardianship of Antonio Carlos Jobim and created music that fuses bossa nova and American jazz. Contains a total of 10 songs, featuring Ana's groovy and moist singing voice as if immersed in the afterglow of the title, and a moist and supple groove with a jazz feel, featuring two American arrangers. Both songs, "Meditation" and "Anos Dourados", which are composed and played by Jobim on the piano, seem to create a drowse, the groovy highlight of the title song "Rio After Dark", and "La Cumbia" a jazzy bossa number with percussion, saxophone, and other sounds that resonate pleasantly. Top quality album.
サンパウロの音楽一家に生まれ、アメリカに渡り御代アントニオ・カルロス・ジョビンの後見をうけながらボサノヴァとアメリカのジャズを融合した音楽を発表したシンガー/ギタリストAna Caram。本作は89年のセカンドアルバム。タイトルにもあるような余韻に浸る様に軽やかながらしっとり歌われるAnaの歌声、2人のアメリカ人アレンジャーを配しジャズを感じさせるしっとりしなやかなグルーヴが全体を包み込む全10曲を収録。ジョビンがコンポーズ/ピアノで参加したまどろみを生む出すような”Meditation”, "Anos Dourados"の両曲、グルーヴィなハイライトの表題曲”Rio After Dark”、パーカッション、サックス等の音色が心地よく響き合うジャジーボッサ”La Cumbia”。素晴らしい。本当にいいアルバムです。
