One of the contemporary jazz live recordings organized by North German Radio that gave jazz musicians the free form to bring out the best in each other, leading to experimental approaches. This 1966 album features 10 tracks rehearsed and performed by a total of 60 musicians, including Ted Curson, Jan Johansson, Klaus Doldinger, Georg Riedel, William Overton Smith, and Helmut Brandt. We particularly recommend the elegant smooth jazz of the Swedish jazz pianist "Vals Fran Delsbo", tense interplay between double bassist Georg Riedel and pianist Andrzej Trzaskowski on "Svit I Nagra Satsar", avant style big band jazz "The Band", light-hearted rendition of a Hoagy Carmichael song on "Small Fry," and Ted Curson's "Tears For Dolphy," which is captivating with its powerful, melodic lines. 北ドイツ放送局が主催しジャズミュージシャン達に自由を与え互いを引き出しながら実験的なアプローチにつながる現代ジャズの実況録音作品のひとつ。66年リリースの今作でもTed Curson, Jan Johansson, Klaus Doldinger, Georg Riedel, William Overton Smith, Helmut Brandtら総勢60名がリハーサルを経て演奏された全10曲を収録。とりわけスウェーデン人ジャズピアニストによる気品のあるスムースジャズ”Vals Fran Delsbo”、ダブルベース奏者Georg RiedelとピアニストAndrzej Trzaskowskiによる緊迫感のあるインタープレイが聴ける”Svit I Nagra Satsar”、アヴァントな空気感のビッグバンドによる”The Band”、Hoagy Carmichaelの楽曲を軽快に演奏した”Small Fry”、力強くメロディアスなラインに心奪われるTed Cursonの”Tears For Dolphy”などは当店的に推薦ですが全編素晴らしい内容です。プロモ美品。
