One of the contemporary jazz live recordings organized by North German Radio that gave jazz musicians the free form to bring out the best in each other, leading to experimental approaches. This 1966 album features 10 tracks rehearsed and performed by a total of 60 musicians, including Ted Curson, Jan Johansson, Klaus Doldinger, Georg Riedel, William Overton Smith, and Helmut Brandt. We particularly recommend the elegant smooth jazz of the Swedish jazz pianist "Vals Fran Delsbo", tense interplay between double bassist Georg Riedel and pianist Andrzej Trzaskowski on "Svit I Nagra Satsar", avant style big band jazz "The Band", light-hearted rendition of a Hoagy Carmichael song on "Small Fry," and Ted Curson's "Tears For Dolphy," which is captivating with its powerful, melodic lines. Amazing contants overall. Beautiful promo copy.
